3 Reasons SXSW Is A Must
Choosing an event to attend can get overwhelming one of the main reasons for this is that SXSXW keeps delivering some of the Hottest and Best events ever! Deciding which ones to appear at can make you have the worst case of FOMO. This year I took my podcast Thyme 4 Tea with Mikita on the road to attend the 2022 SXSW’s most talked about events, and it did not disappoint. Here are my 3 Reasons why SXSW is a definite must:
- Inclusiveness: Film is more than looking good on camera. The film is art, culture, and representation; it’s the people, it’s the movement, and SXSW knows how to deliver you the best of both worlds. This year’s Film and Music n show took on a new meaning. It was all about inclusiveness. Giving opportunities to some Austins newest Film Directors, like Skye Wallin, to have the driver’s seat. I got to sit with Skye Wallin and talk about the excitement of being a part of SXSX. This year at SXSW, Skye Wallin is leading an amazing conversation with Marianne Williamson and two of the teenagers from American Gadfly entitled “Guerilla Tactics & Asymmetrical Political Activism. Considering everything happening in the world today, this is a must needed conversation. Don’t miss your chance to catch this amazing conversation on March 14, 2022, in Austin, TX, from 2:30 – 3:30 pm at the Hilton Austin Downtown Salon H.Before he hosted as a panelist, he talked about what impacts he wants to leave as well as his next documentary. We also talked about how he is leading the movement on empowering young adults and teens everywhere. Every day we get to decide how we want to impact the world. Well, Sky Wallin is doing just that one film at a time.
- Art: I am a true art geek, and nothing was better than sitting down to talk to Rob McCarty, owner of Illustrative Space, as he helped SXSW Pop.
So what happens when you combine AR + Art + NFT you get (PoP) Proof of Presence.
From bringing the world the first-ever traveling AR Ghosting in 2021, get ready for an experience like never before with ( Pop ) Proof of Presence at SXSW.
This year Illustrative Space is teamed up with Mint Gold Dust and the Hope Campaign to connect you and the artist through a whole new experience that allows you to connect in real-time with the artist. This event Kicks off at SXSW in Austin, TX, on March 11-13th, 2022.
As we enter into this new age of Digital Art, it is important for artists to have the creative freedom to create a space that allows them to show up on their terms.
This unique storytelling experience will be captured in real-time, giving validation and authenticity to the artist and their artwork.

You, too, can make an impact by giving back to your community, shopping local, donating your time, attending community-inspired events, or just spreading the word to others. You never know whose life you will change.Â
